The overview

What it is, and why it matters.

Acid stain is a chemical reaction rather than a paint. Mineral salts in the stain react with lime in the concrete and leave permanent, mottled color that ranges from honey and rust to olive, turquoise and chocolate. The effect is organic and often compared to aged leather or natural stone.

We install acid-stained floors in Nashville homes and commercial spaces and across Tennessee. We clean the slab, mask and test, apply the stain in controlled passes, neutralize and rinse, then seal. Because the reaction depends on the concrete, we set expectations before we start.

Why owners choose it

Four things done right.

Looks like natural stone

The color variation is genuine, not printed.

Permanent color

The reaction becomes part of the concrete.

Great on old slabs

Imperfections add to the character.

Sealed finish

Gloss or satin sealers protect and enhance the color.

Good questions

Acid-Stained Concrete: common questions

Can I control the color exactly?

Acid stain is unpredictable by nature, so the result varies. Dyes give more control and are sometimes combined with acid stain.

Is acid stain safe indoors?

Once neutralized, rinsed and sealed, the surface is stable and safe. We manage ventilation and cleanup during the work.
